Arrivals by Air: The NATS Centre is located at the village of Swanwick, under the Solent Control Zone. Southampton airport is unable/unwilling to accommodate most GA arrivals; Lee-on-Solent (EGHF, 7.9 miles) is the most convenient airfield for arrival but is VFR only; The nearest accessible IFR airfield is Bournemouth (EGHH, 34 miles). As an active military/police base, EGHF has its own special restrictions, but we have arranged for inbound flights to be hosted by the Lee Flying Association (LFA). Avgas 100LL and Jet A1 are available by advance notification to LFA (Jon Butts, This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ). To fly in you will need to read and comply with the local flying procedures as specified in the Power Pilots Guide to Operating at Daedalus and complete the on line Visiting Aircraft Request form to obtain arrival permission (check LFA as host). Please only do this once you have registered to attend the Swanwick visit, and had your place confirmed.

International arrivals and departures will require separate General Declaration clearances in advance.

Arrivals by Road: NATS Centre, Sopwith Way, Swanwick, Hampshire SO31 7AY. Take exit 8 or exit 9 from the M27, onto the A27 and follow attached map for the Centre. Check in at the security gate with photo i/d and you will be directed to the main reception area.

Meeting Cost: There will no separate registration fee for this meeting. Members will be expected to meet their own landing and refuelling charges, lunches in the canteen, and to share all the taxi costs.

Booking forms: attached (540 KB). Please return, preferably by email, to the Meetings Secretary, Steve Dunnett ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or mail: School of Biosciences, Cardiff University, Museum Ave, Cardiff CF10 3AX). I will confirm on receipt, so please contact me if no confirmation is received within 1 week of email. Please return by 12 days prior to the visit to aid logistics: deadline: Friday 15 October 2010.
